Nothing happens after the splash screen comes up!

First make sure there isn't a planet or a circle with a line through it in your menu bar (top-right hand corner). When you find it go to the preferences to enable OSXplanet. If that doesn't work, then make sure you have the right version of OSXplanet. The Jaguar version should say Jaguar in the version number. If that is right, then make sure the "Change Picture" is disabled in your System Preferences. Finally, if none of the things above doesn't work, then erase the following files and then restart OSXplanet:
• /Users/your home/Library/Xplanet
• /Users/your home/Library/Preferences/com.gabrielotte.osxplanet.plist

The Globe on the menu bar appears than disappears, what's going on?

This is because OSXplanet crashed for some reason. To avoid this in the future try and remove the following files then start again:
• /Users/your home/Library/Xplanet
• /Users/your home/Library/Preferences/com.gabrielotte.osxplanet.plist
Note that your Preferences will not be saved.

I quit OSXplanet but the desktop keeps refreshing. How do I stop this?

You can stop this by going into the Activity Monitor under /Applications/Utilities and find a program called xplanet-1.0.x and quit it. If you do not have Panther, then go to the Terminal under /Applications/Utilities and type "top" without the quotes, then enter and find xplanet-1.0.x. Once you find it, look for the a 3-5 digit number the is the Progress ID number of xplanet. Then press q to get out of the list then type "kill" with out the quote and press enter.

I have multiple screens, xplanet only appears on one. Are you going to support multi computer screens?

Multiple-Screen Support is now part of the OSXplanet plan. It is some ways down possibly version 0.9 or 1.0 but I'm having a hard time right now to get anything done due to my studies.

How do I install OSXplanet?

Download the disk image, open it up and drag to anywhere you want on the computer.

How much is OSXplanet?

OSXplanet is currently Freeware. However if you find it useful or enjoyable then you can donate some money to OSXplanet project at the bottom of the page using Paypal.

Where can I find more information about how to run OSXplanet?

More information can be found at the OSXplanet Documentation. If you want to ask specific questions please email me at gabriel@otte.ucsc.edu.

Will there ever be a Windows version of OSXplanet?

At the moment, no. I plan to make something like it for the Windows and Linux operating systems but have not found out where to start from. If you have any suggestion on a good place to start let me know.

How do I change background setting?

The OSXplanet Preferences are located under the OSXplanet Menu that is represented by a blue globe with a moon in your menu bar (by the clock).

What are the sky blue labels that says things like STO and TYP?

These labels are the "storms". The top part is their designated name and the bottom part tells you which kind they are. STO stands for Storms, TYP stands for Typhoons, DEP stands for Depression, HUR stands for Hurricanes.

Will there ever be more localizations added to OSXplanet? I plan to add as many localizations as possible because OSXplanet is after all an application that can be used universally. If you can help out in any way let me know.
Why are the clouds sometimes distorted?
This is a problem at the cloud source. Usually it is fixed by the next update on the server side usually 3 hours.
My cities list disappeared! What happened?

For some reason the cities file has become corrupted. Possibly due to a premature termination of OSXplanet. To get the cities list to reset, quit OSXplanet, remove /your home/Library/Xplanet and then restart OSXPlanet.
